WHY "VERSATILE"?
In the Anglo-Saxon sense, "being Versatile" means "having resources"...curiosity and opened mindedness, that is the philosophy upon which Gilb'r founded his own independent label in 1996 to make discover and promote the spectrum of possibilities offered by electronic music : jungle, house, break-beat, electro-jazz...
MAIN DISCOGRAPHY:
Nicolas Chaix aka I:Cube was the first artist signed: the bombtrack "Dicocubism" followed by a Remix by Daft Punk sold over 15 000 copies worldwide. The same year, he releases "Picnic Attack", his first album, celebrated as one of the album of the year by the English magazine "Muzik".
Two years later, "Adore", his second album is an event in electro music. The single "Adore" has become one of the main titles of French Production, used in compilations such as "Hotel Costes, adds (ex : L'Oreal), TV jingles or even movies.
I:Cube returned with his own compositions in 2003 and his third album ^3^. Again exploring new territories, for instance by inviting RZA from the Wu Tang Clan on the title ^Can you deal with that?^
Today I:Cube is undoubtedly one of the best (if not the best!) electro / house producer.
Meanwhile, other producers such as Mike 303, Pepe Bradock, Dj Gregory, Julien Jabre, U-Roy, Manu Dibango brought their own touch to the label by recording singles, remixing or collaborating.
The latest of this producer is the legendary Kirk Degiorgio with his As One project - Elegant Systems was released in June 2005 and presents a beautiful mix of deep techno and blended electronica.
Versatile remained faithfull to its artists' logic and produced "Joakim Lone Octet"'s first album : "Tigersushi" (which has since then become a label name). The Tigersushi album gained Joakim instant recognition, officially producing under the pseudonym Joakim Lone Octet he awoke the curiosity within the electronic music
field! One year later and collaborations as diverse as 4Hero, Next Evidence and DJ Mehdi reworked his jazz and in turn created Tigersushi Remixed. In 2003 Joakim released Fant~mes featuring tracks ^Come into my Kitchen^ and ^Are You Vegetarian^ Fusing electro pop with deeper and dubbier ambient mystery, this new creation really signaled his versatile craft in electronic music.
Chateau Flight is the association of Gilb'r and I:Cube. They recorded "Puzzle" in 2001, which was a worldwide success. Then they published a compilation of their famous remixes, Chateau Flight Remixent, which they made for various artists, including Cesaria Evora, Psyco On Da Bus, Air, Manu Dibango, Bebel Gilberto or Pierre Henry.
They released their second album the Meal in October 2004, featuring special guests including Shawn Lee, Bertrand Burgalat, Magik Malik. A jamboree of styles and influences, an album that brings something new to the listener everytime it is placed in the cd player.
